There’s no denying that Suri Cruise is the most famous six-year-old on the planet. And that’s something which heat has learned worried Katie Holmes more and more towards the end of her five and a half year marriage to Tom Cruise.
A normal life
In the wake of their split (announced at 6pm on Friday 29th June), heat has spoken to a source close to the former couple about Katie’s concerns for her daughter. “Katie wants Suri to be able to have a normal life. There’s a circus which surrounds them, particularly when they are out as a family, with Tom. And Katie wants Suri to be able to grow up as normally as possible now she and Tom have split.”
The actress is said to have filed for divorce in New York this week, and has asked for sole legal custody and primary residential custody of the six-year-old, and a 'suitable amount of child support'.
She even filed for divorce in New York - rather than California - because the East Coast state doesn't like giving feuding parents joint power to make decisions for their children, according to one report.
What Suri did next
Suri’s schooling is another issue for Katie. According to our source Suri has been home-schooled until now, and has been taught about Scientolgy (the religion Tom is famously a follower of). There were even reports that Suri was attending classes at the New Leadership Academy in Calabasas, a Scientology school founded by Tom’s friends Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith.
Our source claims Katie had distanced herself from the religion over the last year or so. “There is talk that the religion was one of the things which divided Tom and Katie the most,” said the insider.
“Katie wants Suri to be able to go to a normal school and have a set routine. She doesn’t want to travel as much as they have been. Katie wants for her and Suri to settle and step back from the limelight a bit,” said the source.
