Tom Cruise "deeply saddened" about Katie Holmes divorce

Tom Cruise
Following news that Katie Holmes has filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, his spokesperson has further confirmed the news, adding that Tom is "deeply saddened" by the split.
Katie filed for divorce on 28 June. According to TMZ, the actress cited "irreconcilable differences" for the breakdown of their five-year marriage and is now seeking "sole custody" of their six-year-old daughter Suri.
According to The Telegraph, the statement reads: "Kate has filed for divorce. Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children."
As well as Suri, the 49-year-old actor has two older children, Connor and Isabella, who he adopted with Nicole Kidman while they were married.

Tom's third divorce

This latest news spells the end of Tom's third marriage; he was first married to actress Mimi Rogers from for three years from 1987.
Shortly after their divorce, he met Nicole Kidman on the set of Days of Thunder and they started dating. He married the Australian beauty in December of 1990, and were together for 11 years before separating.
Cruise briefly made headlines very exciting by hooking up with Vanilla Sky co-star Penelope Cruz ("Cruise-Cruz" has a certain ring to it) from 2004-2005, before meeting Dawson's Creek's Katie Holmes in April 2005. They were together for around a month before he had his infamous moment on Oprah's sofa, jumping on (and leaping off of) it, yelping: "I'm in love!"
In October 2005, it was announced that the couple were expecting their first child together, and Suri was born in April 2006. In November of that year, they married in a 15th Century castle in Italy in a star-studded Hollywood ceremony.
David Miscavige, the leader of the Church of Scientology, was Tom's best man. Katie, previously a Catholic, had converted to Scientology ahead of the nuptials.
