This week's heat book reviews - In The Name Of Love, Katie Price and Rumours, Freya North

The plot: Charlie is a beautiful and successful sports presenter who meets the equally easy-on-the-eye Felipe while on holiday in Barbados. They fall madly in love, but then she finds out that as well as him being loaded and related to Spanish royalty, he’s a professional horse rider about to compete in the Olympics. Can their love survive, even if an old riding accident has left Charlie with a crippling phobia of horses?
What’s right with it? If you’ve read any of Katie’s previous books, you’ll recognise its mix of luxe living, sleazy footballers, obtrusive paps and racy bedroom antics.
What’s wrong with it? Yep, the main hurdle in their relationship really is as ridiculous as it sounds. It’s hard to have any sympathy for the irritating Charlie, so their will-they-won’t-they romance gets pretty tiresome.
Verdict: Katie has admitted herself that she merely thinksup the plot and leaves the
actual writing to someone else, and after being in a car crash involving horses last year it’s easy to see where she got her inspiration for this tome. But it’s all a bit too ridiculous for us. 2/5 @deborah_heat

Rumours

FREYA NORTH (Harper, £7.99)

The plot:
At 34, with a nasty divorce barely behind her, Stella Hutton has hardened her heart to love. She’s also given up her career in art for a sensible office job at a countryside estate agent and resigned herself to an uneventful life with her young son William. But that wouldn’t make for a fun 400-odd pages, would it? ’Course not. So when she’s asked to sell the stately pile owned by resident battleaxe Lady Lydia Fortescue, you just know that somewhere in that whopping commission there’s bound to be an unexpected bonus in the form of a hot local stud…
What’s right with it? It’s so sweet, romantic and easy-to-read that you’ll immediately fall in love with Stella, Xander and Lady Lydia.
What’s wrong with it? There’s a sex scene early on with a few choice words that jar with the nice, slow-burning romance developing between Xander
and Stella.
Verdict: Whether you’re a long-term Freya North fan or new to her books, this
heart-warming romance is a lovely, light summer read.
