The plot: Charlie is a beautiful and successful sports presenter who meets the equally easy-on-the-eye Felipe while on holiday in Barbados. They fall madly in love, but then she finds out that as well as him being loaded and related to Spanish royalty, he’s a professional horse rider about to compete in the Olympics. Can their love survive, even if an old riding accident has left Charlie with a crippling phobia of horses?
What’s right with it? If you’ve read any of Katie’s previous books, you’ll recognise its mix of luxe living, sleazy footballers, obtrusive paps and racy bedroom antics.
What’s wrong with it? Yep, the main hurdle in their relationship really is as ridiculous as it sounds. It’s hard to have any sympathy for the irritating Charlie, so their will-they-won’t-they romance gets pretty tiresome.
Verdict: Katie has admitted herself that she merely thinksup the plot and leaves the
actual writing to someone else, and after being in a car crash involving horses last year it’s easy to see where she got her inspiration for this tome. But it’s all a bit too ridiculous for us. 2/5 @deborah_heat
