If you watched the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee concert last night on BBC1, you’ll know that anyone who’s anyone (in the music world obviously) would have probably given their right arm to be on that stage. Legends like Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder all performed while other stars likeKylie Minogue, Robbie Williams and even organiser Gary Barlow also played at the gig outside Buckingham Palace. But there was one group of ladies who weren’t there – and more to the point, they were very upset not to be… that’s right, we mean the Spice Girls.
It was Mel B aka Scary Spice who took to social networking website Twitter first to point out that she wasn’t a part of the whole affair.
“Makes me sooo sad spice girls wasn't part of the queens jubilee, break[s] my heart big time,i was so up for it,watched some of it on tv,amazing,” she wrote.
While Scary’s bandmate Mel C (Sporty) put in her two cents worth too saying, “Bit miffed I'm not down at Buckingham Palace :-( x”
Even not-so-Baby-Spice-anymore Emma Bunton got in on the act tweeting, “The spice girls should have rocked this show".
And you know what? We totally agree – the girls should have rocked the Jubilee show, but they made it clear way back in February that they wouldn’t be taking part. At the time, Mel C said during an interview quite honestly that the girls “don’t plan to perform or reform, so I’m sorry to disappoint anybody”.
Still, it’s not like Gary Barlow – who as we mentioned, organised the whole event –was short of takers for the concert. He not only managed to get all the old legends down but he also had JLS, Ed Sheeran, will.i.am, Jessie J and Cheryl Cole on stage giving Her Maj’ the ultimate Jubilee celebration.
But who were your top acts of the night, heatworlders? We personally thought the gorgeous Kylie Minogueand Sir Elt’ was amazing, as were Gaz Baz’s Commonwealth Band who did a rather impressive live version of Jubilee single Sing. What did you think of Gary and Chery's duet? Speak now or… er, well tell us later. Either way, we want to know your thoughts…
