Lily Allen receives apology from soldier she reported for racism

Lily told her followers on the social networking site that she hoped to put the issue behind her after receiving the heartfelt apology.

The singer tweeted: 'I have just received some flowers and a hand written apology from Harry Wilson, which I accept. I hope we can all now move on. Thank you.'
The Twitter spat began when the singer called in the Ministry of Defence after a man, whose profile said he was in the Army, told her: 'just seen you bought s*** I mean adopted a child from Africa'.
Lily, who tweets under her married name @lilyrosecooper, reported the comment to the MoD after asking her followers: ‘How do you report someone on here. That guy I retweeted should be banned.’

An Army spokesman said at the time: ‘Racism of any kind is completely unacceptable and the Army has a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of harassment and discrimination.

‘We are aware of the alleged offensive comments and are investigating the matter. It would be inappropriate to comment further while this is ongoing.’
The Smile singer received backlash from other Twitter users, with one disgruntled user writing: 'Everyday celebrities and no marks like you are abused on twitter. You chose to single him out. And you really punished him.'
Another user said: 'We're doing a gig for Help The HEROES in Stranraer was wondering if you want to help.... Oh no wait you want them sacked..!!'
